The members of France-Philippines United Action Foundation elected the FPUA board of trustees during the FPUA Annual General Meeting held on April 24, 2017. The directors are elected for a period of 1 year.

Following the success of the Circus Show last year, France-Philippines United Action Foundation (FPUA), is once again partnering with Alliance Française de Manille. This year, we are bringing The Swaggers to Manila for a unique dance show.
The exclusively female hip-hop group will be performing on June 6 in Samsung Hall, SM Aura at 8PM, as part of their asian tour.
With their famous show “In the Middle”, the french group changed the game in the hip-hop industry mostly dominated by men, and will prove you that women can definitely “own the place” .The Swaggers is led by choreographer Marion Motin, who has worked with Madonna, Stromae, and Christine and the Queens and performed with the great contemporary choreographers such as Angelin Preljocaj and Blanca Li.
The 7 dancers will bring to you a movie-like performance you have never seen before where light is a key part of the show and is omnipresent.

The rehabilitation site being built in barangay Cayang in Bogo city in northern Cebu is the third project of France-Philippines United Action Foundation. This project is part of a bigger program named “Building back better” which aimed to offer safe and resilient homes to communities affected and vulnerable to natural disasters.
As of end of January 2017, 6 units are already completed and 40 units are all at different level of construction. Some units have primers and are ready for topcoat, others are ready for painting when the days get dry and some are partially painted. There are also units ready for installation of roofing.
The rainy weather in Cebu in December 2016 and this January 2017 delayed the construction. As the roads were slippery and the field muddy, the construction moved slowly during this period.
The summer season about to start in the Philippines will be able to give the final kick to the construction of the remaining 40 units.The construction of the units should be completed by the first semester of 2017.
FP-UA is welcoming donations for the site development. In order for the beneficiary families to be able to move in, the Foundation needs funds to provide them with essential and basic needs such as electricity, water, and a set of simple furniture (bed, tables and chairs).
To raise the necessary funds, the Foundation is giving companies or organizations the opportunity to be part of our “Sponsor a Family” program. With a donation of Php 150 000, you will be able to allow one family to move to a safe and new home. The houses have been specially designed by a local architect and is unique at FPUA. The Hyperbolic Paraboloid House Design allow the houses to withstand up to intensity 8 earthquakes and 275-300 kilometer-per-hour winds.
Once completed, the village will also serve as a refuge for the surrounding communities like our two first site which were used as evacuation centers during the previous typhoons.

This week-end, Team David’s Salon participated to the Ronda Norte 600, the first ride for a cause by Northern Cement Corporation organized by Trisports Solutions Inc.
On Sunday morning, the 6-woman/man team successfully completed the 600 km between Manila (Pasig) and Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud). They chose to donate the Php 100,000 raised, to support the France-Philippines United Action Foundation.

The houses being built on FP-UA’s Site 3 in Bogo City, barangay Cayang, north of Cebu Island, are getting closed to completion.
According to our NGO partner, Habitat for Humanity Philippines, as of end of November 2016, 2 units were already completed since the month of July 2016 and 44 units were all ongoing construction at various levels. The construction project is now at 73% accomplishment.
The construction of the units should be completed by the first quarter of 2017.
FP-UA is now welcoming donations for the site development. In order for the beneficiary families to be able to move in, the Foundation needs funds to provide them with essential and basic needs such as electricity, water, and a set of simple furniture (bed, tables and chairs).
To raise the necessary funds, the Foundation is offering companies or organizations to be part of our “Sponsor a Family” program. With a donation of Php 150 000, the companies or organizations will be able to allow one family to move to a disaster and earthquake resistant home. Once completed, the village will also serve as a refuge for the surrounding communities.
31 beneficiary families still need your help. The companies sponsoring our project will have their names and logos included in all our marketing collaterals and communication to the Filipino-French community about the project. The companies would also receive a photo of the sponsored family in front of their new house at the inauguration.

Last November 14, the French photographer Arthur Perset visited the villages of FP-UA in Cebu. He met some of the future beneficiaries of the site currently being built in Bogo City and listened to their stories. He also talked to the current beneficiaries of our very first village, the “French Village” in barangay Agujo in Daanbantayan where 76 families now live. Here are their stories.

During Soirée Beaujolais 2016, which took place last Tuesday November 29 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, the FP-UA Foundation organised a silent auction which proceeds will be used to help complete the construction of it’s third disaster-resilient village in Bogo City, in the north of Cebu Island. The village, once completed, will welcome 46 families who are former victims of typhoon Haiyan.
Top celebrity Solenn Heussaff as well as up and coming local artists, Piaget Martelino, Alfonso Recto and Chris Verayo, each donated one of their artworks for the occasion.

The funds raised by the end of the night are enough to enable two families to move into their disaster-resilient houses; complete with electricity as well as running water.
At the moment, the construction of the houses, which is financed by Cités-Unies France, is nearing 70% completion. However, the village will still need to be connected to electricity as well as water, gutters and evacuation systems still need to be built in order for the selected beneficiary families to be able to move in. This is why the Foundation designed a “Sponsor a Family” program that allows a company or an individual to sponsor the installation of one of the 46 families into one of the disaster-resilient homes. As such, the inauguration of the village is thus scheduled for the middle of 2017.

The families selected are former victims of typhoon Haiyan that struck the Philippines three years ago and left scores dead or missing in the region. Because they live in “no-build zones” close to the sea, they were the first hit by the powerful winds of Haiyan. With little economics resources available, these families were, until now, unable to re-build stronger houses and unable to relocate in safer places further inland. The project of the FP-UA Foundation aims to provide them with a strong and sturdy home where they can feel safe in times of disasters.

Three years after the tragedy of typhoon Haiyan, a group of local artists, among which top celebrity Solenn Heussaff, will auction off paintings in order to complete a disaster-resilient village for typhoon victims.
Three years and other typhoons have passed since the powerful winds of typhoon Haiyan blew through the Visayas region in November 2013 ; displacing 14 million people and causing more than 6,000 fatalities. After all this time, the country is still recovering from the damages with thousands of those in its path struggling to rebuild their lives.
Until today, most of Haiyan victims still live in flimsy shelters that are unlikely to withstand the next typhoon. Indeed, because of the Philippines’ location on the Pacific Ring of Fire and the intensifying effect of climate change, Haiyan unfortunately won’t be the last super typhoon the country will experience. Just a few weeks ago, supertyphoon Haima/Lawin made the top of the headlines after sweeping through Northern Luzon, with strength and magnitude reminiscent of November 2013.
At the call of France-Philippines United Action (FP-UA), the Foundation of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a group of local artists have put their creativity at the service of typhoon victims. Multi-dimensional artist Solenn Heussaff along with three of the country’s top emerging artists, Alfonso Recto, Piaget Martelino and Chris Verayo, each created original artwork that will be auctioned off to fund a project of the FP-UA Foundation : a disaster-resilient village benefiting victims of typhoon Haiyan.
The auction will take place during the biggest French event of the year, Soirée Beaujolais, at the Marriott Grand Ballroom on November 29, 2016. This will be the 26th edition of this annual event organised by the French Chamber of Commerce, which gathers 1,500 people from the French and Filipino business community.

As the Foundation of the French Chamber of Commerce, the aim of the France-Philippines United Action is to encourage the French business community to give back to their welcoming host, the Philippines, through projects such as these.
The foundation was launched in 2013 as a response to the widespread damage inflicted by Typhoon Haiyan, known as the strongest and most violent typhoon to hit the country in a decade. FP-UA was swiftly created under the French Chamber of Commerce to coordinate the relief and rehabilitation initiatives of the French business community. Since then, two villages of more than 200 disaster-resilient houses have been built in Daanbantayan, also in the north of Cebu Island, and now host families who had lost their homes to the powerful typhoon.
Artist Solenn Heussaff is grateful for this opportunity to help her fellow Filipinos through her work : « I am very happy to be partnering with the FP-UA Foundation on this auction. This project shows the solidarity of the French community with Filipinos that are in need and I am very grateful that I am able to contribute to my country through my artwork. »
This will be the 26th edition of the Soiree Beaujolais which shows how deep the French community’s roots go in the country. This event will not only be a celebration of French food and wine but, via this silent auction, a testament to a relationship which has always been supportive in times of hardships.
The artwork, created by French and Filipino artists for this project is indeed a reminder that, together, we can build back better.
