Our History
On November 8, 2013, Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) devastated the Visayas region of the Philippines, affecting over 14 million people and claiming more than 6,000 lives. Over 1 million homes were damaged, with nearly half a million completely destroyed.

In response, the French Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of France to the Philippines mobilized the French business community in the Philippines, forming France-Philippines United Action (FPUA). What began as a collective humanitarian initiative quickly evolved into a long-term commitment to resilience and sustainable development.

Our Foundation

FPUA was officially born through its first major initiative, Project Rebuilding Lives (2015–2017), which focused on post-disaster recovery through permanent housing:

-
Site 1: Brgy. Aguho, Daanbantayan – 74 houses built for 500 people
-
Site 2: Brgy. Paypay, Daanbantayan – 128 houses built for 700 people
-
Site 3: Brgy. Cayang, Bogo City – 46 houses built for 190 people

Following the success of the housing program, FPUA launched Project Improving Lives (2018–2019) to enhance community well-being and infrastructure in the same three villages. This included the construction of community buildings, a kindergarten, and the installation of solar PV panels for sustainable energy access.

In 2015, then-French President François Hollande recognized FPUA as a model of public-private collaboration and commended its transformation into a full-fledged foundation, paving the way for long-term, community-based impact.
