Job dimensions

To coordinate and develop corporate social responsibility activities of the French Chamber and its partners.

To communicate about such activities and increase visibility of the projects in order to drive more funds.

Activities

Under the supervision of the Board of Directors

Coordination

– Monitor on-going activities of each partner;

– Monitor site development;

– Manage stakeholder relationship including institutional partners, NGOs, government agencies, LGUs and private sector as well as all the donors;

– Identify new possible projects;

– Organise meetings with the Board of Directors and all the partners;

– Organise milestone events such as ground breaking and model house inauguration ceremonies as well as turnover celebrations.

Communication

– Organise and implement communication strategy about FP-UA;

– Manage website and social media of FP-UA;

– Develop and update all communication material that can promote FP-UA;

– Develop and maintain relationship with the media;

– Organise press conferences.

Fundraising

– Look for funds and design fundraising campaigns to complete the projects;

– Develop and update fundraising related collateral;

– Keep track of CSR projects of the French business community in the Philippines to potentially integrate them to FP-UA;

– Assist the Board of Directors in developing relationship with potential donors.

Willingly undertake any other assignment or duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Accountability

– Reports to the Board of Directors.

– Establish reports and monitor each ongoing project for the donors and partners.

Profile of candidate

– Looking for candidates with experience in humanitarian projects, NGO, Corporate Social Responsibility or development work;

– Proficiency in both English and French required;

L’Institut asiatique du management (Asian Institute of Management) en partenariat avec la fondation de la Chambre de Commerce Française aux Philippines, France-Philippines United Action (FP-UA), vient de compléter une étude sur les activités françaises de RSE (Responsabilité Sociale des Entreprises) aux Philippines. L’objectif de cette étude est de mettre en valeur les initiatives françaises en terme de RSE ainsi que de définir une approche “CSR” (Corporate Social Responsibility) propre aux compagnies françaises dans un pays étranger.

Neuf compagnies ont complété le questionnaire envoyé aux membres de la Chambre de Commerce Française aux Philippines et ont accepté de répondre aux questions du Professeur Roman de l’AIM durant un interview au sujet de leurs activités RSE. Les résultats ont été rassemblés dans un rapport qui est maintenant disponible à la demande.

L’étude conclue que les réponses démontrent la richesse et la diversité des projets de RSE et des processus mis en place pour les effectuer. L’étude souligne des éléments communs aux activités de RSE des compagnies françaises aux Philippines (1) ces projets sont directement en lien avec l’activité de l’entreprise, (2) un intérêt particulier est porté à l’interaction entre l’entreprise – employés et leurs familles – et la communauté identifiée, (3) ces activités cherchent à répondre à un besoin particulier au pays – tel que le secours humanitaire post catastrophes naturelles ou alors l’accès à l’énergie, et (4) elles démontrent un intérêt grandissant pour les actions inscrites dans le développement durable et le respect de l’environnement.

The FP-UA Foundation is setting up a program, called “Sponsor a Family”, in order to complete the rehabilitation site in Bogo City, located in the north of Cebu Island.

This village, once completed, will welcome 46 families former victims of typhoon Haiyan and still living in extremely precarious conditions in zones at risks (for example by the sea shore). Even though the typhoon swept through the Philippines nearly three years ago, its effects are still felt today with hundreds of families who lost their roofs still living in flimsy shelters that will unlikely stand the next impact.

With a donation of Php 150,000, you or your company would enable one of these families to move into a disaster and earthquake resistant home. The following shall be included; connecting the house to the electricity grid, construction of a water and gutter system as well as providing the family with a set of simple furniture (bed, tables and chairs) and a big sack of rice delivered on the day of the inauguration.

Once completed, the village will also serve as a refuge for the surrounding communities. In fact, our first two villages in Daanbantayan served as evacuation centres during the last storms in the region.

As a sponsor of our project, the name and logo of your company would be included in all our marketing collaterals and communication to the Filipino-French community about the project. You would also receive a photo of the sponsored family in front of their new house at the inauguration.

This project is in partnership with the NGO Habitat for Humanity Philippines, which is in charge of the construction and of selecting the beneficiary families together with the Housing Project Qualification Board (HPQB) composed of the City Government of Bogo (LGU) represented by its City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO). The selection criteria are very clear:

• Applicant must be indigent,
• Applicant must have been a victim of Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013 (house totally or partially destroyed due to the typhoon),
• Applicant must not have been qualified, has not received a housing unit before and must execute an undertaking to this effect,
• Priority will be given to applicants living in zones at risks (sea shore). The barangays in Bogo where the families will be selected have already been identified: barangays Polambato, Taytayan and Cogon.

The third site of the FP-UA Foundation is taking shape six months after the ground breaking.

30% of the construction work is now completed. Out of the 46 total units, there are 30 core housing units that are being built by our on-the-ground NGO partner, Habitat for Humanity Philippines.

The main donor for this site is Cités-Unies France which is funding the construction of the 46 units. This phase of the project should be completed by the end of this year.

FP-UA is however still looking for contributors to fund the site development (installation of water, electricity etc) for the beneficiary families to be able to move in their new houses.

The Alliance Française de Manille, together with the Embassy of France to the Philippines and SM Aura Premier, present « A Nonsense Story », a circus show performed by the Open Ticket Collective from France.

The one night performance in Manila will be on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, 7:30 PM at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura Premier.

Ticket prices are Php 1,000 for Orchestra seats, and Php 600 for Balcony seats. Half of the proceeds from tickets sold via FP-UA will go to the projects of the Foundation and will serve to build disaster-resilient houses and creating livelihood for the victims of typhoon Haiyan.

 « A nonsense story », by the collective Open Ticket

The artists who let us explore their show called “A nonsense story”, come from the ENACR (National School of Circus Arts of Rosny-Sous-Bois).

Their collective “Open Ticket” represents an extraordinary cultural wealth, thanks to the numerous nationalities of the artists. “A nonsense story” is their third show, after “Babel”, created in August 2013, and “Aluzzz”, created in July 2014. It is directed by Voleak Ung, a young Cambodian flyer.

The show tells us the story of 7 performers, who will make you travel in a magical land where the circus, the dance and the theater answer themselves to provide a complete work of art. The characters gradually transform themselves and the public feels drawn into a rich storyline, like the Hitchcock’s films of the 1930s.

The performers for the Manila show are:
 Dimitri Rizzelo, Anaïs Albisetti, Voleak Ung, Cathrine Lundsgaard Nielsen, Pedro Alfeu Almeida Sá Marques Consciência, Vincent Brière, Lucas Struna.

On April 12 2016, the French Ambassador, H.E. Thierry Mathou, and his wife hosted a cocktail in honour of the Foundation France Philippines-United Action. The guests included French and Filipino companies, NGO representatives and the Senator Christophe-André Frassa who was visiting Manila.

The FP-UA Foundation was presented at this occasion by its President, Philippe Gauthier, and the programs for 2016 were launched. This year, the Foundation will focus on finishing its third French village in Bogo City, North of Cebu. It is a village including 46 disaster-resilient houses and a multi-purpose center. It will benefit more than 200 people who until now live in extremely precarious conditions and in zones highly at risk during typhoons. The Foundation would also like to extend the scope of projects it supports to issues such as children welfare, livelihood and health.

In the words of the French Ambassador: “FP-UA is unique because it is a symbol of French solidarity that seeks to link two usually-separate words: the business and humanitarian communities.”

On March 17, 2016, FP-UA, together with its NGO partner Habitat for Humanity Philippines, inaugurated the first house of a third village in the Municipality of Bogo, barangay Cayang.

This is the first unit of a 46-house village which will aslo include a multi-purpose center. The houses will boast the same hypar design as used on Site 1, barangay Agujo in Daanbantayan, which is conceived to resist up to 275 km/h winds and intensity 8 earthquakes. The colours chosen for the houses of this French village are the ones of the French flag.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Martinez of Bogo City as well as the First Counselor, Mr. Laurent Le Godec, and representatives of the French Chamber and the contributing companies Cités-Unies France and Total Philippines Corporation.

After the ceremony, the delegation went to visit the first two sites in Daanbantayan that were inaugurated in November 2015; just two years after typhoon Haiyan. The beneficiary families have been settling in since then arranging the interior decoration of their new house and cultivating well-kept garden in front of their doors.

It was heatwarming to see these families, former victims of typhoon Haiyan, appropriating their new house and their new life.

After delivering its two first sites in November, the FP-UA Foundation, together with its partners and the Municipality of Bogo, will inaugurate the first houses of a third site in Bogo City on March 17.

Back in November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan devastated the Visayas and France-Philippines United Action was subsequently created in order to coordinate the relief and rehabilitation efforts lead by the French business community.

Two years after, on November 6 2015, two villages of a total of 202 sturdy homes were delivered to families in Daanbantayan.

Today, a third French village is taking shape in the municipality of Bogo in Northern Cebu. Part of the funds come from our partners Cités-Unies France and Total Philippines, but also from a donation announced by President Hollande and made to FP-UA during the business luncheon organized by the Makati Business Club on February 26, 2015.

Thanks to Habitat for Humanity Philippines, which is our implementing NGO partner, this village will include 46 houses as well as a multi-purpose center. In an effort to build resiliency against the effects of climate change, which was the aim of President Hollande’s visit to the Philippines, the structures are designed to resist up to 275-300 kilometer-per-hour winds. This, in fact, is the same Hyperbolic Paraboloid house model used on Site 1 in Daanbantayan. The beneficiary families will be communities living in precarious conditions in zones deemed dangerous during natural disasters.
